Toyota Repair: VSC lights leads to expense!?!, engine misfire, toyota 4 runner

Question
I have an '03 Toyota 4-Runner that I took in for an oil change yesterday (to the Toyota dealer).  They changed the oil and replaced a filter in the dashboard.  After having it home for about a half hour, the VSC Trac, VSC Off and Engine lights came on.  Took it back to the dealer who told me those lights had something to do with the Vehicle Steering Control.  After they looked at the truck, they now tell me there's an ignitor that needs replacing that has something to do with the exhaust ($410.00) and that the exhaust manifold has seized (?) and needs to be replaced (covered under emissions).  What does this have to do with the steering?  Does this sound fishy to you?  I will have more information on Friday (3/9) after they fix the manifold....but I was wondering if you had any thoughts.  Amazing how things fall apart after just being serviced!!  Your help is appreciated!

Answer
The check engine light came on first because of some sort of engine problem, it sounds like it may be an engine misfire because they told you there was a problem with one of the coil/igniters, if the check engine light comes on the VSC/Trac control is automatically disabled, to let the driver know, the VSC/TRAC lights will turn on, this does not mean there is a problem with these systems it simply means they are disabled and will return to normal once the cause of the check engine light is repaired.
