Toyota Repair: od flashing, speedometer cable, speedo gear

I just asked a question referring to the od light flashing in my 1987 supra but I forgot to mention in the symptoms that the speedometer is not working. sorry.

Check the speedometer cable, it may be broken, disconnect it at the transmission and see if the cable is broken at that end, remove the speedo gear from the transmission and see if the gear is stripped, if the gear and the cable are ok the speedometer itself may be the problem, the computer is not getting the vehicle speed signal and that's the reason the O/D light is flashing.
