Toyota Repair: Camry Strut Seat, strut mounts, wheel alignment

Question
Hi - I recently put 4 new tires on my 2002 Camry and asked for a 4-wheel alignment.
When I picked up my car, I was told that the alignment could not be done properly
because I needed a new strut seat. I have not
noticed anything unusual performance-wise...so, what is a strut seat, what risk
do I run delaying repair, and why does a strut seat get in the way of an alignment?

Thanks...Tom

Answer
I think what they were talking about were the upper strut mounts which do cause problems on the camrys frequently but there is normally a knocking noise when going over bumps if they are causing a problem, if they are worn the alignment readings may not be accurate.
