Toyota Repair: toyota wont turn over, engine cranks, toyota 4x4

Question
hi...i've got a 1990 toyota 4x4 w/22re 4 cylinder engine, efi, manual 5-speed transmission....i replaced the timing chain, buttoned it up, put everything back on, & now it won't start...it cranks, but it won't turn over...would the ignition timing be the culprate?...or am i over looking a simple solution?..thanks for your time, & hopefully, help!!

Answer
The engine cranks over but won't fire up is this correct? If that's the case there are a few basic things to check, check tosee if there is spark at the spark plug connectors, check for fuel pressure,if the timing chain was off by one tooth it would still have some sign of life, a backfire or an attempt at starting, no response at all from the engine means that something is missing, either spark, fuel, air, compression or timing, check the basics first and if there is no problem recheck the cam timing, if the timing is far off there is a chance that some valves may have been bent because this is an interference typre of engine.
