Toyota Repair: check engine light, vacuum leaks, obd ii

Question
My check engine light came on about 2 days after an oil change and air filter change.  I went to Auto Zone and had them check the code.  It said it was a vapor control problem.  He said it could be a gas cap problem.  I also found a hose on the air cleaner box that was off.  I put the hose back on and disconnected the battery to reset the engine light.  Two days later the light came back on.  Can the gas cap turn the engine light on.  I have a 2001 Highlander v6

Answer
It's OBD-II, not OBD-I of the 80's-early 90's.

You can't reset codes by disconnecting the battery, no matter who tells you that you can do that. It must be reset with a scanner.

Check the EVAP system & for more vacuum leaks. Good job finding one!
