I have a Tacoma 2001 v6 24 valve 3.4 it runs good up to about 4200 rpm then it starts to cut out almost like it hits a rev. limiter. The exhaust is not plugged, the spark plugs are new, plug wires are new, and it has a new fuel filter, the intake is not plugged. THANK YOU.

Any codes in the ECU?

Answer
You say runs "good" up to 4200, Is it normal, good idle, good pickup to that point?

What needs to be done is, drive it with a scan tool hooked up to it and have a passenger read the data list.
Once it wont accell. any longer, print the data list to see what doesnt read right.
That will tell you if its a sensor giving false info to the engine computer.
I cant do that from here.
