Toyota Repair: 2000 Tacoma V6 dies on warm start, air control valve, tacoma 4x4

Question
I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 TRD with a V6 and automatic.  It has about 170,000 miles on it.  When it is cold it will start and idle just fine.  However, once it has gotten up to operating temp, i.e. after driving to town, it is hard to restart.  It always starts, but dies immediately unless you tap the throttle.  If you allow it to die, it is a bit harder to start.  It will crank considerably longer before it will start, and again you have to tap the throttle or it will die. It doesn't seem to matter if I pump the throttle before cranking.  Also, after it is warm, it will sometimes die at a stop light, etc. It idles very low and rough when it does that.  Other times it seems to run and idle just fine.  Any assistance you can give will be appreciated.  Thanks!

Answer
Youll need to have someone hook up a scan tool to the vehicle.
Otherwise Its a guess.

First thing I would have checked is the Idle Air control valve.Need to see if it operates during an active test.
If it checks ok, then you have a bad input to the ECU from a sensor, perhaps engine temp. You can sometimes see a bad temp reading on the scan tool, other times not.

It should run an hour labor for a diagnosis
