-----Question-----
SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP AND OTHER TIMES YOU PUT THE KEY IN AND TURN THE SWITCH THE CAR WONT START THE KEY DOESN'T FEEL LOSE IN THE IGNITION ANY IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?
-----Answer-----
Hi Harry, Well you didn't mention that only the self starter doesn't work or there is no power on the dash board. If you turn the key and lights in the dash board lights up and then no power to the self starter. Then the ignition switch is defective. I think you better check the Power supply coming to the ignition switch and the main fuse and if these are ok and only the self starter is not working then you better check the connector on the self starter solenoid switch.

Answer
Hi Harry, when you turn the key, do u hear a click sound from the engine or everything is quite. If no  click sound under the hood from the engine. Then it means your igntition switch inside terminal to the starter is worn out. And if you hear a click sound. Then the terminals inside solenoid switch on the starter motor are worn out. They can be relaced and wouldn't cost much. To show you a simple test there are two main wires connected to the Starter motor one thick lead direct from the Battery + and another wire close to this battery lead which is coming from the ignition switch. Disconnect that clip of the thin wire and take another piece of wire a  few inches long. And connect this wire to that terminl from which you removed the clip and wire. And now just like ignition key touch this wire to the thick lead from the battery momentarliy. if the self starter works. Then the self starter and the solenoid switch are working properly. And ignition swith will be faulty. Actually this wire which we removed is from the igntion switch and it gives power to the starter solenoid.  But here we connect it directly bypassing the ignition switch. but be careful from the moving parts of the engine.
