Toyota Repair: 1981 toyota pickup mis fire/drivability probs, 4wd truck, fire problem

Question
hello, I have a 1981 4wd truck with a 22r and 5spd tranny.
The truck has had problems in that it would randomly die when rolling up to a
stop, also a mis fire problem whenever it is put under load. climbing hills,
accelerating on freeway. everytime you push the pedal down to accelerate hard it
will sputter a little bit or a lot. The carb has been rebuilt and gone through.
plugs, wires, cap/rotor, ignition coil, all replaced. The Resistor wires off of
the ignition coil are sposed to read 1.2 ohms and they read 28 ohms, another
problem arose when i would start up the engine it run for 2 seconds and die each
time, and would only remain running if I would feed it fuel by accelerating on
the pedal. i found that to be the idle shut of solenoid in the carb. The ground
itself was unsteady. sometimes it was working sometimes not. When i gave it a
different ground that problem has gone away and it has not died coming to a stop
since. The engine has no other problem that i can tell, it idles great. Where
should i go next?

Answer
Add a new engine to chassie ground wire of descent size. Also a descent sized battery to chassie ground wire wouldn't hurt either!

Replace the new wiring & coil wires.
Denso, or NGK plugs & wires ONLY. Anything else is going to run like crap within months if that long.
Make sure it's got good spark on each cylinder, and that the fuel pressure, and carb are both OK. Misfiring normally tells you it's lacking ignition, or fuel.

You should probably check the mechanical timing, and the ignition timing on it too at some point!
