Question
I have a 97 4runner limited I have just bought it  2 weeks ago it has 200k on it and it dose not miss a beat. I have notice that one of the vales is noisy. my dealer told me to try a engine flush as it my be a stuck lifer and I try that I tried the Pennzoil flush from my locale parts store it  but it is still there is there a better way to may be flush the engine with out having have to take it apart?I have herd of guys using ATF in the Engine with the motor as a cleaner but im not sure if that would be ok or not do you have any idea?

Thanks
Vern

Answer
4cyl?
6 cyl?
My Dad used the old ATF in the oil trick. It never proved to be a problem, as long as you get ALL the fluid out.
He ran a quart in it for a day trip to work (10 miles one way)
Then would drain it for a half hour.

If the Atf is left in there you run the risk of it softening a seal and getting an oil leak.I never ran into that.
