Toyota Repair: 1985 Toyota Camry transmission removal, cv joints, gentle manipulation

Question
Thanks for your prompt reply but what I really want to know is how to get the "two round white connectors" you mention apart. This may seem simple to you but there is no mention in the shop manual, and breaking one of these would be a pain. Do I just pull them apart? Twist them? Push and twist?
They are stiff enough with age that gentle manipulation of this sort has been unproductive. My male tendency to force the issue always gets me into trouble. So how DO those figgin round white connectors come apart???
Thanks Bill

-----Question-----
I almost have the automatic transmission removed. The problem is the electrical connections: two round white connectors. How do I get them apart? The shop manual is silent on this. The last mechanical procedure are the CV joints - is there anything I have to watch out for?
Thanks for the help!
-----Answer-----
The electrical connector does not unplug at the transmission. Follow the harness up to the back of the cylinder head and there should be a plug there.  The white piece is a grommet where the wires go through the tranny case.

Answer
Bill,

Most round connectors have two flat sides that you squeeze together while pulling the connector apart. If it is a square connector it should have a release tab that you push down. If you still aren't sure send me a picture to Timthecarguy@earthlink.net and I'll try to help you out.
