Toyota Repair: 1994 toyota pickup, head gasket, air pockets

Question
i have a 1994 toyota pickup.the raditor is wanting to bubble real hard.and it wants to idle up and down.any ideas.
it is a 4 cycle

Answer
Anthony,

First I would try replacing your thermostat. The idle surge is caused by an air pocket in the throttle body. If the thermostat is not opening on time the coolant will boil and create air pockets in the cooling system.  If that does not cure the problem have your head gasket checked by a good mechanic.  They use a tool that checks for exhaust gas in the radiator (which there shouldn't be any if it is good)
