Toyota Repair: trans problem, toy pickup, drive shaft

Question
Thankyou for taking the time. I have a 93 toy pickup 4x4 automatic.  I have 3 questions. First, in the morning if I do not let the truck warm up good and I get on the highway sometimes it takes a while once I push the button on the overdrive for it to engage, Second when I come to a stop, or if I am leaving from coming to a stop, sometimes it feels as though something is shifting or moving from where the shifter is, 3rd is in order to get the 4x4 high to engage I first have to put it on low and then move it to high and then it will engage.  Thankyou for your time geoff

Answer
Is it a v-6?

1. The engine needs to be at 158 degrees before you will get O/D.Thats build into the engine ECU.

2. Its sounds like your describing drive line torque. You can minimize it by cleaning and lubing the drive shaft slip yokes. Some movement is normal.
check motor and trans mounts also.

3. Try changing the gear oil in the transfer case. May just be gummed up.You may have to line up the splines before it will shift.
Also seen a worn shifter do that.
dont hang anything on the shifter or rest your hand on it while driving.
