Toyota Repair: 1997 toyota avalon XLS stalls, toyota avalon xls, spark plug wires

Question
Hi, This has occurred a few times in the past 3 weeks. I was driving to school waiting at a light, and then crossed the highway and came to a yield , had to wait for a car to pass. I went to hit the gas and the vehicle wouldnt go because it had stalled.

The same thing happened a week later.

Then when i went to a store , came out and went to my car it would not start.


Any advice?

The check engine light was on one day, and when i got it checked it said cylinder 4 misfire could that have been the cause?

Yes the misfire could be the cause, these engines don't use a distributor, they use coil packs on the number 2,4 and 6, each coil fires two cylinders, the #4 also fires the #1 cylinder so there are two cylinders affected which can cause the engine to stall,I would recommend replacing the #4 coil and the spark plugs along with the spark plug wires.
