Toyota Repair: 1997 Right Rear Passenger Door Lock Assembly, needle nose pliers, exterior door handles

Question
Read several responses that were similar.  I have a door which will not open.  Door can be unlocked (either electronically or manually), but the door will not open with either the interior or exterior door handles.  Have managed to get the interior panel off (with door still closed) but need to know what to pry on to unlatch the door.  I can then disassemble the lock and determine what is wrong.  Do you have any photos / diagrams of the assembly and can you point out what to press/pry on.  Again, door is closed, window is up (can be lowered) and interior panel is off.  have limited sight and reach due to confined space (inside door), but willing to work at it.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Erik.

Answer
This is a malfunction of the door latch assembly and it will need to be replaced, there are no parts available to repair them, the problem as you well know is to get the door lock to release to open the door, this is not exactly easy. If the lock/latch has any kind of plastic covering on it remove it by any means you can including breaking it, this is a theft preventive cover, after the cover is removed try moving any of the connecting metal rods, this is largely trial and error, sooner or later you will move the one that will open the door, use a screwdriver or needle nose pliers to move anything that looks like it can me moved.
