Toyota Repair: Electrical 1995 Celica Dash, replacement light bulbs, celica gt

Question
My daughter's 1995 Celica GT Convertible started smoking from what appeared to be the defroster vent.

I disconnected the battery as it kept smoking even after turning the ignition off.

It has now stopped smoking, but now the speedometer, Tachometer and Temperature gauges are dead.

The fuel gauge is still working as well as the turn signals and headlights on the dash.

Any help?

Answer
I don't think I can be of a lot of help, it sounds like some wires may have burned, try checking all the fuses inside and under the hood and see if any are blown it's hard for me to say what may actually have happened, was anything done to the car recently that had to do with the electrical system, battery replacement, light bulbs anything electrical?
