Toyota Repair: toyota 4 runner, toyota repair, whells

Question
I have a 1998 automatic 4 runner with 82.000 miles.  Once or twice a week, after backing of a parking space the car goes into reverse fine, but will not go into forward, when you step on the gas it just won't move at first.  Then after a minute it jumps forward and makes a noise in the back and the parking brake light comes on for a few minutes.  I took it to a mechanic and had the transmission oil and filter changed and it did't help.  The toyota repair shop said unless a check engine light is on they can't get any codes.  Do you think it needs a new transmission?

Answer
Probably has a bad axle seal. The gear oil gets on the brake shoes so when you change direction it locks the whells till you pop em free.
Get a flash light and look under the truck at the backing plates.
You may see the stain from the leak there or on the back side of the rim.

Let me know
