Toyota Repair: Idle speed way high, vacuum hoses, celica gt

I was driving along today and all the sudden my 88 celica GT with 5 speed stick, wouldnt idle below 3000 rpm. I cant figure out whats causing it. What are the first trouble shoot steps I should take.

Check the throttle cable for sticking, disconnect it and make sure that the throttle plate closes all the way, if it has cruise control make sure that the actuator is not hanging up, also check for any vacuum hoses that may have become disconnected, it would have to be a large leak to make it idle at this rpm.
