Toyota Repair: 90 4Runner waterpump, crankshaft pulley, clutch assembly

Question
Thanx in advance Ted. My water pump is weeping and needs replaced. What kind of job is this to do? Without the big service man., I'm not really sure where to start. I was employed for several years as a diesel mech. so I'm not scared, just don't want to waste time and money, you know..any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
First remove the top part of the timing cover, you will have to drain the coolant because the top water inlet housing has to be removed. Inspect the timing belt, it may need to be replaced also at this time(good idea anyway)obviously all the drive belts have to come off, after removing the fan and clutch assembly remove the fan clutch bearing housing, the water pump is under there, loosen the belt tensioner bolt(8mm torx) and take the tension off the belt to get it off the pulleys, the water pump can then be removed, if you are going to replace the timing belt the entire timing cover and the crankshaft pulley has to come off.
