Toyota Repair: supra high idle, head gasket, egr valve

Question
I have a 1990 Supra that I changed the head gasket that origionally leaking some water in the oil.  Before I started the car idled and ran fine.  After the gasket was changed, the cars runs at 2000 rpm and dies for about a second and idles back at 2000 rpms and continues this cycle.  I had replaced all the gaskets that I took off the intake and rechecked to make sure that none were damaged.  Could the EGR valve be causing this?  The car is a 1990 non-turbo with about 40,000 miles on engine manual trany.  Thanks.

Answer
Sounds like air in the coolant passage that houses the coolant sensor. The ecu cant set the idle because the temp is flucuating at the sensor.

Try jacking the front of the vehicle untill the radiator fill neck is higher than the engine . refill and run till the t-stat opens.Let cool down and top it off.
