Toyota Repair: Cuts out, fuel pressure gauge, turbo boost gauge

Question
I have a 1988 toyota supra turbo and when I floor the gas the turbo boost gauge goes all the way past the 8, at that point my car cuts out (I guess that's how you would describe it) it pretty much jerks. I've asked a lot of people who know a lot about cars what the problem is and they all give me different guesses. Nobody can give me a positive answer. I'm a 16 year old female, so I don't know a lot about cars, but I'd like to learn and in the meantime I would like to fix whatever the problem is with my car cutting out. It does not have a governour or anything and it does not take long for it to cut out like this. Could you please help me by telling me what the problem is and letting me know how to overcome it. please email me. Thanks -Amber

Answer
It sounds like there may be a loss of fuel pressure, this could be due to a clogged fuel filter or a failing fuel pump, the way to diagnose if this is the problem is to connect a fuel pressure gauge that can be looked at while driving when the cutting out condition occurs to see if there is a loss of fuel pressure to the injectors.
At this point I would recommend replacing the fuel filter and see if that helps.
