Toyota Repair: 2002 Toyota Camry V6 Valve Stem seals, toyota camry v6, mile powertrain warranty

Hi Ted,
I have a 2002 Toyota Camry V6 with low 43,000 kilometers (genuine). Has been serviced by Toyota as per log book but due to short trips has developed slight sludge and occasionally blows smoke at startup.  Can you tell me whether it is possible to replace valve stem seals on this engine without removing the cylinder heads?  I'm sure the seals on the rear head would be quite difficult if possible at all with head still on. Thanks

Yes the seals can be replaced without removing the cylinder heads although this is extremely difficult to do on the head near the firewall and most shops charge just about the same labor time whether it's in the car or not.
Have you contacted the toyota dealer to see if this may still be covered under the 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
