Toyota Repair: 1996 Camry stalling, coolant lines, throttle cables

Question
Hi Mike, a fellow technician here, albeit Ford. I have a question about my sisters 96 Camry 4 cylinder stalling at idle. She says she has to hold the throttle open intermittently to keep the engine running. I don't know for sure how often, but enough that they called me for help.Car is 2,000 miles away so I can't scan it or do anything to it myself at this time. This sounds like an idle control issue to me but I have no practical knowledge of the systems.

Not being familiar with Toyota I need some help here what to look for if you can offer anything. No CEL, no other symptoms. It is an automatic and only does this randomly. My brother in law does most of his own maintenance and repairs so of course I get a call when he is stuck.

I too volunteer here in Ford repair and appreciate whatever we experts can do for each other and the public.

Answer
yes indeed sounds like the IAC valve (idle air control)

Located on the bottom of the throttle body. Take the throttle cables off, take throttle body off and flip over.
Two coolant lines, one bypass hose on it.$ screws.

NOTE: crack screws loose with small vise grips . If you dont they stip out very easy.

The are usless to clean. May work but only for a short time.
