Toyota Repair: 1987 Toyota 4runner 22re starting problem, 1987 toyota 4runner, toyota 4runner

Question
Hi Ted, my '87 4runner recently began having a problem.  It starts perfect when cold and drives fine, but after a short drive (2 miles or so) if I stop it and try restarting, it just turns over and won't catch.  If I give it a push it jump starts immediately and drives good (though after a long drive the gas mileage gets terrible).  If I let it sit for about 10 minutes or so it will start up perfectly without fail.  I've done everything I can think of.  The pump pumps fine, new fuel filter, injectors are fine, changed TPS, new cold start injector, coils fine, wires fine, new plugs, it's got good spark, even changed the ECU with my '85 celica for a drive, but the problem remains the same.  Could you give me any more ideas, because it's driving me crazy!

Answer
Try replacing the cold start injector time switch, it's located on the thermostat housing or somewhere near it, there is an electrical connector on it and it is much larger than the other sensors, if I remember correctly it takes a 22 or 24mm wrench to remove it, anyway this may be keeping the cold start injector open and causing this problem and bad gas mileage.
