Toyota Repair: 95 4Runner - Dead Battery, unable to open doors, open doors, dead battery

My 95 4Runner has been parked for long time and battery is dead.  Now keyless entry won't open doors and manual turning of key does not open doors.  Can't release hood so I'm unable to even charge battery.  To make matters worse I'm afraid I disconnected the hood release when I was trying to access that too.  

Any ideas here?  Why won't the key open the door manually?

The key should work in at least one of the doors, have you tried the passenger side?
Is it factory keyless entry or aftermarket?
I don't understand why you can not manually open at least one door with the key unless it is an aftermarket system that locks the doors when battery power is removed and locks the door lock actuators so that the key cant be used, are you able to turn the key in the lock?
The only other suggestion I have is to try to have a otw company come out to unlock the door with the special tools they have to get to the lock and force it open.
