Toyota Repair: 2000 sienna le, sensor signals, failure code

Question
Merry Christmas, Ted!  I have a 2000 Sienna Le with 105,000 miles.  I bought it used with about 87,000 miles in March.  I've been getting a PO420 code.  From your other posts I realize that I probably need to replace the catalytic converter.  I erased that code with out replacing anything.  Now the van is running rough on start up and hesitates when I put my foot in the accelerator.  I'm now getting a PO302 code which I understand to be a misfire on cylinder 2.  Could my engine troubles be caused by a bad cat or do you think I have more problems?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer
The PO420 is a catalityc converter failure code, this could have been caused by an engine misfire which if not corrected can destry the converter, I would recommend repairing the misfire and then testing the converter again, testing the converter involves connecting a scantool to read the O2 sensor signals this indicate whether or not the converter is working.
