Toyota Repair: 1993 Camry, alternator output, intermitently

Question
We have recently purchased a previously loved 1993 Camry, but it did not come with an owner's manual.  There is a light to the left and bottom of the dashboard that intermitently comes on.  It looks like a car facing forward with lines radiating out from what looks like the back lights.  The battery light also comes on at the same time.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it to come on since it does it at various speeds, and times; also sometimes it comes on when the car swerves.  It may stay on for just a flicker, or for 5 minutes at a time.  If you have any ideas of what it could mean I would really appreciate the help.  I have tried to find a copy of the manual online to read it but it seems there isn't one available, only for purchase.  Thank you.

Answer
This warning light is letting you know that there is a problem with the rear lights or brake lights so make sure that all rear lights including the backup lights are working.
The battery light coming on would indicate that the alternator is starting to fail, have the electrical system tested  which should consist of a battery loadtest and an alternator output test.
