I now have to put the axle (rear, drivers side) back onto the car. So it would be of great help to see some pictures to help me out.  Someone else took it all apart because I had to have a new wheel bearing. Now the person won't put it back together.
I do have the new bearing pressed onto the axle. I took the axle to the local Toyota Dealership, was told there's no "LOCKING RING" BUT their specs showed I needed a seal and 2 gaskets, 1 is rubber gasket and 1 looks to me to be the ordinary gasket type paper.  I know how the seal goes on, the open part towards the deffrential, and have seen pieces of a disintergrated gasket, but can't tell which goes there.  The gaskets are almost identical. Also I have no idea where the 2nd gasket should go.  Do the 2 gaskets go on together at the same place? Can you help?  I sure hope so and would be ever so thankful.  Mary.

Give me your email address and I'll try to locate an ILLUSTRATION to show how it's reassembled.
HI AGAIN,
MY EMAIL IS...MissGGisMe@yahoo.com.  An illustration would be great.  Also I would like to know what kind of "grease" do I put in the rear end.  I have called the Toyota dealer and they said to put transmission fluid in it.  I did stick my finger in the rear end and it's for sure not trans. fluid.  Just black yuck that looks and smells like the usual oil.  So what weight and type do I need?
  I really appreciate your help!!!
Mary

Answer
I don't have any information online from toyota, the car is too old, it only goes back to 1990 and there were no more 4x4 tercels, I will have to look at some of the old manuals at work and make a copy, I'll get back to you on monday. The differential uses 90w gear oil.
