Toyota Repair: 1992 Toyota 4runner not starting out in 1st gear., toyota 4runner, d light

I have a 1992 4runner that when you put it in drive when it is cold the o/d light flashes once per second and starts out in what seems to be 3rd gear.  After driving it for about 2 or 3 miles it will start shifting properly.  You can put it down in low and it will shift manually fine until it warms up and then the o/d light will stop flashing and you know that you can put it in drive and leave it because it will shift fine.  Engine also has a rough idle that has developed around this same time which may be timing belt related.  Droped pan and checked fluid and seemed fine with no metal or shavings in pan.

The transmision has an on board diagnostic system, the O/D light flashing is an indication that there is a trouble code in the computer, can you have it checked and let me know what the code is, my best guess is that one of the shift solenoids is causing the problem.
