Toyota Repair: power switch, best gas mileage, power mode

I have a 1990 toyota one ton winnabago motor home with a v6. on the dash is a ect switch. push in for power and out is normal. what is this for. thank you

All it does in the "POWER" mode is delay the upshifts, in other words it will stay in each gear longer and so give a little more acceleration for instance when entering the freeway or mountain driving, it will also downshift sooner than in the normal mode, for all around normal driving leave it in the normal setting it will provide the best gas mileage.
