Toyota Repair: CHECK ENGINE CODE 71, rotten egg smell, rotten eggs

90 SR5 XTRA CAB PU 2X2 HAS A CODE 71.  HAVE TRIED TO RESET THE LIGHT UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO REPAIR BUT IT WILL NOT TURN OFF.  ALSO, EXAUST SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS.  PLEASE ADVISE

The check engine light won't turn off because there is a failure of the egr system, how did you try to turn the light off?
Rotten egg smell is caused by sulfur in the fuel, with an EGR malfunction this is no surprise.
Whether the check engine light is on or off doesn't change the fact that there is a serious problem so why don't you wait until you can have it fixed?
I have no easy solution other than to have a repair shop or toyota dealer look at the vehicle and check why it is doing this.
