Toyota Repair: toyota sienna 01 power door malfunction, independent mechanics, reply thanks

Question
I have had intermittent problems with the passenger sliding door on the Sienna '01 XLE.  When opening or closing electonically, it makes the sound that it is trying, but does not move.  I have to put it in the manual mode and open/close it.  Also, sometimes the door will partially open electronically when the outside handle is pulled, then stops and starts to close itself, but not completely (had to save a few kids from being crushed).  I have brought this in to 2 toyota dealerships and to independent mechanics, they could not find the problem because it was intermittent. They greased the door and checked the alignment, always fine. Lately toyota said they found the problem and said BOTH doors now had the issue(never had a problem with the driver side door).  I paid $637 to repair wiring and install sop door handles (one was  broken, but they said it was better to replace both as they had the doors off anyhow).  They also told me many times they had not heard of this problem before, but as I am doing research, I am finding this is a problem.  Toyota has ordered a part(?) cost is approx $150 and will good will it to the company but I have to pay the $180 labor. Since I have been back many times for this problem, including in warranty, do I have any recourse? I have all the repair records. What, in your opinion is the issue/solution with the door?

Answer
I just read your reply, thanks for the nomination, the question to your answer seems to me that there is a general shortage of knowledgeable technicians, I see this time and time again based on experiences posted here by toyota customers when dealing with authorized toyota dealers to have known problems taken care of but the dealer doesn't seem to be informed, all toyota dealers get the service bulletins posted on the TIS(technical information system) and it's just a matter of looking for the applicable bulletins on the computer to solve most common issues, please feel free to ask for any help you may need in the future.
