Toyota Repair: 97 Camry LE just clicks, starter wire, egr valve

Question
My car had been trying to stall when it was slowing down, for close to a year but I had it put on a scope which told us it needed an egr valve (or some similar initials).

Last week it actually stalled, and hasn't started since.  It clicks instead of cranking.  So we replaced the starter.  Still clicked.  replaced the ground-to-starter wire.  Still clicks.

Now people are trying to say it sounds like my engine seized up.  (I don't want to hear that.)

I had no warning from the engine, and there is still oil in the car, although it is really thick.

I had my battery, and the new starter checked.  Both good.  I'm baffled.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
PJ Sarver

Answer
It does sound like the engine may have seized due to lack of lubrication even though the oil level may be OK if the oil hasn't been changed on a regular basis it can cause a problem, another cause may be that the engine overheated.
Have the valve cover removed to check to see if there is a lot of sludge build up inside the engine, if so the engine has a major problem.
