Toyota Repair: vehicle stability control, vehicle stability control, toyota avalon

Question
The vsc light is on the warning panel and it also says that the vsc is turned off, although I have tried the vsc button to turn it on and off with no response.  The check engine light is also on.  This is on a 2000 Toyota Avalon.  No repairs.

Answer
The check engine light is the primary concern, when the check engine light is triggered the VSC/TRAC control is disabled and the warning lights will come on, this doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with these systems, there are merely turned off because communication between the engine control computer and the traction control computer is disabled.
My advice is to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealer and have them connect the diagnostic scantool to retreive the trouble codes, in almost all cases repairing the check engine light will eliminate the other codes, please let me know if you need more help after they make a recommendation as to what course of action or recommendation the dealer offers to you.
