Toyota Repair: Toyota MR2 ECU reset, mr2 sw20, ecu reset

On a 1997 N/A MR2(SW20 UK spec) there seems to be divided opinion on whether the ECU has a learn mode and a reset is of use. My car has had a number of tanks of 95 octaine fuel and now does not go as well as my memory says it did even when full of 98.
I guess it can do no harm but I would be interested to know the truth.

If there is a check engine light on it can be cleared by disconnecting the battery, wait ten seconds and reconnect it or removing the EFI fuse in the fuse panel, wait and reinstall it.
All of the ecu parameters are ROM and can not be reprogrammed on this model.
If there is a check engine light on let me know what codes are stored in the ecu and I may be able to help more.
