Questioni have a 2000 tundra v8,dual exhaust,4 wheel drive , sometimes it either won't idle or idles very low, then sometimes it idles just fine. it also has a k&n air filter thats clean
AnswerWe run into this all the time, the solution is to remove the intake air tube at the throttle body, after blocking the throttle plate open, the inside of the t/body can be cleaned with a spray t/b cleaner or carb cleaner using a stiff brush, also clean the throttle plate. The idea is to get rid of all the gum and carbon deposits inside.
After that's done disconnect the battery for about 10 seconds, start the engine and drive it right away through a few stop and go cycles(normal city driving)it should idle ok after that.
