Toyota Repair: 1992 Celica electrical problems, dashboard lights, celica gt

Question
Hi,

I am having very strange electrical issues with my 1992 Celica
GT. Here is what is going on:

- Tachymeter sometimes doesn't work at all - stays at zero.
- Ceiling light turns on but it doesn't work if it is in the "Door"
position (doesn't turn on when a door is open).
- Some of the other dashboard lights do not work all the time,
such as the lights on the button to change the air circulation.
- The brake light comes on intermittently when accelerating,
even if the handbrake is not engaged.

I do not have trouble starting the car. The headlights have never
caused a problem.

Thanks for your help!

Best,
Ray Sylvester

Answer
This a little too involved for me to be of any real help, it sounds like there is a wiring problem in the wire harness somewhere which is going to be very difficult to diagnose, maybe if you could provide a little history of the car, like, were there any repairs done recently, was it in an accident, when did the problem start?
The more details I can have the better, as far as the brake light on the dash is concerned, check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and add fluid as needed.
