Toyota Repair: 1999 Solara - resetting check engine light, toyota solara, scantool

Question
Hi, I have a 1999 Toyota Solara V6 with approx 88000 miles on it and an auto transmission. My check engine light has been on for several months because of a malfunctional O2 sensor. The troubleshooting code is P0135 (sensor 1, bank 1) and that's the only problem I have. If I either decide to install it myself or get a mechanic to install it, would you recommend a generic brand in this model or only the expensive Toyota brand? Also, if I installed it myself, how exactly would I go about resetting the check engine light after installation or would it just turn off automatically after fixing the problem? Thanks a lot!
Mike

Answer
The bank one sensor is located on the rear near the firewall in the exhaust manifold and somewhat difficult to get to, I do not recommend using aftermarket parts, the check light will not turn off by itself, you can try disconnecting the battery to clear the code, if that doesn't work the OBD scantool has to be connected to turn the light off.
