Toyota Repair: car not firing/starting 93 Camry 2.2, signal generators, salvage yard

Question
Fuel pump is humming, rotor is turning, car doesn't start-all fuses check out ok.  Any suggestions?
 What is the igniter box mounted on left/driverside firewall purpose/function?  Also, where is the coil for distributor?

The coil is inside the distributor, remove the distributor cap and the rotor, remove the coil cover and check the coil for cracks, this is a common problem, if the coil checks out ok there is a problem with the signal generators in the distributor and the distributor needs to be replaced, also a common problem, a less likely problem is the igniter but can not be ruled out, I would recommend replacing the distributor if the coil is good, you can save a lot of money be getting one from a local salvage yard to try out.
