Toyota Repair: 1992 Previa Wont shift out of park, blown fuses, fuse boxes

Question
I have a 1992 Previa that won't shift out of park. I am not even able to pull back on the shifter. I was able to disconnect the shifter cable and change gears to get my van home but I cannot change gears. I was told by a few dealerships in my area that this van has a shift over-ride  button but I cannot find it.  Do you know what may be causing the problem and where is the Shift override. It is a shift on the column and the break lights do work.

Answer
This normally happens because of some blown fuses, if the battery was jumped recently there is a chance that it was connected backwards and blew some fuses, remove the cover in the center of the dash on top and check all the fuses with a test light with the key on, open the hood and look for additional fuses in the fuse boxes.
If the fuses are not the problem there is a problem with the shift interlock solenoid, this can get kind of complicated and I would advise having a toyota dealer take a look at it.
