Question
Hi Ted
I have a 1989 toyota truck with the 22r engine.I have just had my head rebuilt and new timing chain and tensioner.I have a very noticeable ticking noise at all rpm's(sounds like valve train noise)I adjusted the valves,.008 int, and .012 exh like service manual stated.CAN YOU OFFER ANY ADVICE.  Thanks, Mark Fox  P.S. Truck has 145,000 plus miles on it.

Answer
Check to see if the rocker arms are aligned with the top of the valve stems, there are two spacers on the rocker arm shaft, they were originally made out of plastic and wore to the point where the rocker arms were out of alignment, the remedy is to install metal spacers, you can get them from the toyota dealer parts department, Check the top of the valve stems they should be flat, they should have been ground flat when the headwork was done but check anyway, remove the adjusters and check them for deformed or worn ends were they contact the valves.
