Toyota Repair: 91 Camry v6 autotransmission, camry v6, transmission problem

Question
My 91 Camry LE wagon has not given me any trouble.  I was in a drive-thru waiting for my dinner and then I tried to leave and Nothing happened.  I had to push myself thru.  After 5 minutes I started the car and no problem...zoom.  Until I had traveled around 8 miles and nothing.  The tach. was working , the tranny wasn't.  Again, waited five minutes and zoom.  It takes off without any slippage , but after several minutes of diving it starts to slip, or engage.  I sense it could be electrical...  What are your thoughts

Answer
If there is no "check engine" light and no other warning lights on I would suggest that there is a transmission problem.
The first step is to check the transmission fluid, with the engine at normal operating temperature check the fluid with the trans in park and the engine idling, pull the dipstick and make sure it is near the "full" mark, also see if it real dark or smells burned, if so, there may be a major problem, if the fluid is low but looks normal, check for a leak, at fluid as needed and see if the situation improves.
