Toyota Repair: Rear Drum Brakes 2000 Camry, rear drum brakes, drum brakes

Question
I have been recently informed that I can adjust the rear wheel drum brakes on my 2000 Camry without removing the wheels.  Is this possible and if so how do I do It?

Answer
The wheels have to be removed, there is no access to the wheel adjustersa through the backing plates.
With the wheel removed look for a rubber plug, it may be missing, there is an opening in the drum, line up the opening with the star adjuster wheel, it's near the top, it can only be rotated one way to tighten the adjustment of the brake shoes. You will hear a clicking noise when you are turning it in the right direction, do this gradually until there is a slight drag felt when turning the drum, as soon as this happens, STOP, or you will overtighten it and it's real hard to back up, but possible.
