Toyota Repair: clutch/transmission, clutch master cylinder, clutch replacement

Question
i put ina  new clutch disc, pressure plat and throw out bearing. i put it back together but won't go in 1st, 2nd, or reverse.it will go in 3rd, 4th, and 5th but is very hard. plus clutch peddle seems to have more play before making contact. did i do something wrong or is clutch slave or clutch master cylinder bad? it is a 1985 toyota pickup. 2 wheel drive 5 speed

Answer
I need to know what was wrong before the clutch was replaced, what was the reason for replacing the clutch, what was the truck doing before? Was it the same problem you are having now or something else, did this happen after the clutch replacement.
Check the fluid in the master cylinder and add fluid if needed, there may be a hydraulic leak so check the master cylinder and the slave cylinder for leaks, have someone push in the clutch pedal to see if the throwout arm on the slave cylinder moves.  Try bleeding the system to remove any air.
