Toyota Repair: oil pan leak / engine rear seal leak, oil drain plug, oil leaks

Question
hi. I have a toyota camry 92 4cyl with 130+K of miles. lately I went to do my oil change and the technicians noted that I i have an engine rear seal leak and oil pan leak. am kinda tight on budget, woudl you know how much each of this service would cost? i also heard for me to save on the oil pan leak i should just drain the plug and replace it with a larger plug. lastly, which should i change first..the engine leak or the oil pan?
thanks for helping

Answer
It depends on where the actual leak is, is it at the oil drain plug or the oil pan surface where it mounts to the engine block? Oversize drain plugs are not a good idea, if the drain plug hole threads are stripped the oil pan needs to be replaced, if the drain plug is not the cause of the leak, removing the oil pan and resealing it solves the problem, it is much more likely for the oil pan to leak than the rear engine main seal, just how bad is the leak?
Do you see oil on the driveway or when parking?
If you do not see any oil leaking overnight I would not worry too much as this is a minor leak, place a newspaper or cardboard under the engine and if in 24 hours there are no oil leaks the leak is very small and of no concern at this time.
