Toyota Repair: 94 Corolla - Stalling in drive, air leaks, toyota corolla

Question
Hi. I have a 94 Toyota Corolla LE that has a stalling problem for about 3-4 months now. The car only stalls when I stop the car and it is in drive (e.g., stopping at a red light). The idle will fluctuate and then die. The problem occurs intermittently, about 40% of the time when I stop. It does NOT stall in neutral as the idle is higher and constant. I have resorted to driving the car like a stick shift (putting the car in neutral whenever I stop to avoid stalling). The car is an automatic.

The problem is much worse in warm weather or when the car is warmed up (which strikes me as strange). When the car is cold and/or the weather is especially cold the car doesn't stall as much. I recently brought it to a shop and they changed the Oxygen Sensor and fuel filter. It did not help. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike

Answer
One of the most common problems are air leaks in the intake system, the first place to check is the connecting tube from the air filter box to the throttle body, make sure it is not cracked and the clamps are tight, check very closely, especially look for cracks in the hose where it connects to the throttle body. If that's not the problem let me know and I will try to have a solution.
