Toyota Repair: Toyota Previa-chirping sound and stalling, toyota previa, 1992 toyota previa

Question
Hi-We have a 1992 Toyota Previa that has a chirping sound when it is idling. It has become icreasingly louder. The van has also started stalling when it is idle. These problems seem to go away at greater speeds. We had the air conditioner fixed about a year ago. Are these repairs (chirping and stalling) going to be in the $1000 range. Thank you.

Answer
The chirping noise is usually due to a worn or cracked drive belt, make sure the belts are in good condition, if not try replacing them to see if it helps.
The most common problem for the stalling condition are worn spark plugs and plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, try giving it a good tune up replacing all of the above along with the air filter.
