Toyota Repair: toyota repair carola 1997, clutch plate, toyota repair

Question
When its cold out the first time I go to start up the engine squills for about 5 mins. very loud.then it will go away. Could it be the waterpump or waterpump bearing or the s belt.I have read that it may be clutch plate bearing? The car runs great, would like to keep it. Also it needs a tuneup. Is all of this something a weekend mech.can do? Or do you have any other ideas? Thanks for your help.   Vinnie

Answer
Probably a drive belt problem, the most inexpensive way to eliminate them is to replace them, replace all the belts and see if it helps, water pump failure is normally a growling type of noise, this sounds like one or more of the belts are loose or worn.
