Toyota Repair: Corolla Battery Problem, memory functions, battery problem

Question
Hi there - glad I found this site! Very informative. Hoping you can help. My mom has the above (not sure what year - believe possibly 98/99. It's almost guaranteed that she has battery problems almost once-a-year. We brought it to get it checked, alternator, etc., each year we would have to purchase a new battery. One of my friends said that that happened to his wife's car and it was the clock on the car and how it was wired. Once they fixed the wiring, they had no issues. Have you heard of anything like that?

Answer
No I have not heard of this and Toyota has not issued any service bulletins regarding this condition, the clock draws a miniscule amount of current after the key is turned off, if the car is not driven for a long time the battery can run down from the current that is used by memory functions of the computer and the radio etc. but it will take a long time, around two months.
Not sure what the problem may be with this. Ask your friend how they fixed his wife's car and try doing that, I have no other information on this.
