Toyota Repair: Auto A/c not working on low, air intake hose, phillips screw

Question
Hi,

I have a toyota 2000 Camry LE. My first question is my A/C doesn't work on LOW. Its works when I turn the knob to HIGH.
2) My gas pedal sometimes gets stuck when I push it. Is there some kind of oil to put so that it becomes smooth.
What could be the problem ?
Also should I take my car to a toyota dealer or I can repair my car anywhere else ? I am new to owning a car so I have this question. He gave me a price of $73 just to diagonize the problem
Can you suggest someplace ?

Thanks
Premal

Answer
I'm going to save you $73 right now because I'm going to tell you what's wrong and you can go from there.
The reason the fan only works on high is that there is a problem with the fan blower resistor, it is located under the glove box in the air duct, look under the glove box or remove it to locate it, it has a bunch of wires attached to it and has a phillips screw attaching it to the air duct. You can go to the toyota dealer and buy the blower resistor first and this will give you an idea of what it looks like and make it easier to identify, once you dop this, replace it.
The reason the gas pedal sticks is because there are some carbon deposits built up in the throttle body, you can try doing this yourself by getting some throttle body cleaner that is available at most autoparts stores, remove the air intake hose from the throttle body and open the throttle all the way, spray the cleaner in there and use an old toothbrush to scrub the inside real clean, repeatedly do this until the throttle body is clean, this will fix the throttle from sticking.
